Mihai Mănescu is a Romanian writer, screenwriter, and communication specialist. He graduated from UNATC in 2007 with a degree in Film Studies and earned his Ph.D. in Cinematography and Media in 2011. Over the past decade, he has taught screenwriting at Hyperion University and has become known for his ability to blend narrative techniques with psychological depth, influenced by the mythological frameworks of Joseph Campbell. Mănescu is also deeply involved in the nonprofit sector, where he contributes to fundraising and communication strategies for various organizations. His professional work outside of academia extends into marketing and communications management for BRIO, a standardized testing platform in Romania.
Mănescu’s creative writing career began with his debut novel, Copacul dorințelor: Amintiri din copilărie (2022), a magical realism story that draws inspiration from classic Romanian literature and focuses on childhood, imagination, and resilience. His works, which also include Povești despre Speranță (2023), often explore themes of hope, loss, and human connection. In addition to his literary endeavors, he is a founding member of the De Basm Association, which supports Romanian children’s authors.
